The Ireland team premiered in 1924 at the Paris Olympics, and had its best years during 1986-2002. The team is known not only for its great football, but also for its fans – who had received the Fifa Fair Play award in 1997, and also special UEFA prizes for supporting the team in spite of losing in Euro 2012. The team is also known for the fact that none of its players plays in team inside Ireland.
