Founded in 1881, Watford FC (known as Watford Rovers at the time) unlike some teams, very quickly begun to make it big time, competing for the FA Cup only 5 years later. The team was formed entirely of amateur players, and in time became a team playing with professional ones. Although not the most well-known team in the Premier League, Watford FC is still a competitive and successful team, competing and beating teams such as Southampton and Swansea City. This Premier League football season of 2017/2018, started pretty well for the team, as it is ranked number 8 on the Premier League Table at the moment, looking forward to climb its way to the top. |

Although relatively successful in its own league, "the Hornets" from Watford faced difficulties for many years, and even faced relegation at one point, until something rare happened for the team. Elton John, who had always supported the team, became chairman, and got involved in the football team's decisions. He appointed Graham Taylor as manager in 1977, which was one of the best decisions that the team made, and during his tenure watched the team rise from the Fourth Division to the Premier League. On November 2011, and after many differences of opinion with members of the club management, Sir Elton John resigned. |
