| After competing in many small matches, and often losing, in 1885 Tottenham had their first competitive match, winning 5 - 2, starting the club's successful career. 1887 was the year of Spurs' first match against Arsenal (known as Royal Arsenal at the time), where the game was ended after 75 minutes. The true reasoning is not public, but is arguably to be due to lack of sufficient lighting, while some fans argue that it was due to unfair behaviour by one of the teams. |
