Summer Olympics Archery

Summer Olympics Archery
Archery, one of the most festive sports that reminds us of the past, or of hunters in distant places, is in integral part of the Summer Olympics since 1972. True, it has been a part of the games since 1900, but it wasn't consistent. Contrary to what we may think, archery is not only an individual sport, but also a team competition.

Over the years, the South Koreans proved to be the best archers, with 34 medals, 19 of them gold. Not so very far behind them are the Americans, with 14 medals. The Netherland and Russia have each one bronze medal, giving them the last place at the table of medals. The South Korean women absolutely dominate the sphere, and won almost all the gold medals that were given since 1982 Los Angeles Olympics - 14 out of 15 medals. The world record also belongs to South Korea, with Im Dong-Hyun who reached 699 in 2012 Summer Games (fun fact: Im doesn't have a perfect vision, and even much less, which makes his record more amazing).

The competition has very simple rules, and is played in the head-to-head system, even with teams and not only individually - each archer shoot, the one who achieves more points is the winner, and the losers play against each other. The system has not changed much over the years, since this sport is simple in character.
In the Rio Games, the Archery venue is the Sambadrome: far in downtown Rio which holds parades and attracts many tourists each year, and can hold up to 18,000 spectators. The venue stretches to 700 meters, perfect for the Archery competition. Save your sit with Rio Olympics 2016 tickets from doctorticket, and maybe see the new William Tell!
