Southampton FC was founded in 1885 at St Mary's Church, Southampton. When the team began to play in leagues, they started to hire professional English players such as Charles Baker, Alf Littlehales and Lachie Thomson, which lead them to become a successful team which, in time, entered the Premier League. When Southampton entered the Southern League title in 1896, the club moved to their new stadium: The Dell. This remained their stadium from the late 1800s, until the early 2000s when the club moved to St Mary's Stadium (formerly called ‘The Friends Provident'). After constantly battling with relegation, and being in and out of the Premier League, the club were reinstated to the Premier League in the 2012-13 season, after employed Mauricio Pochettino as manager has lead the team to great successes.
