Out of 53 teams that competed for a chance to join Euro 2016, 24 got in (including France, which hosts the championship and therefore is automatically qualified). Among the teams are Germany - the world champions; Spain - the European champions; Russia, Turkey, Austria and Switzerland - all of which missed Euro 2012; Hungary - for the first time in 44 years; Belgium - for the first time after 16 years; Albania, Iceland, Northern Ireland, Slovakia and Wales - for the first time ever. Other teams that compete in Euro 2016 are England, Portugal, Italy, Croatia, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Sweden, Poland, Romania, and the Republic of Ireland. Perhaps you had notice some teams that are missing. Indeed, Greece, winner of Euro 2004, 1988 winners, the Netherlands, and 1992 winners, Denmark - have all missed their chance of this year's Championship.
The teams will play in 10 venues around France: Stade de France, Stade Velodrome, Parc Olymique Lyon, Stade Pierre-Mauroy, Parc des Princes, Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux, Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, Allianz Riviera, Stade Bollaert-Delelis, and Stadium Municipal.
