Interestingly, the team (at the time named Burnley Rovers), changed their sport from Rugby to Football in 1882, and in time became the Burnley FC team that exists today. Shortly after the switch to Football from Rugby, the team relocated their home to Turf Moor, and unusually, have been playing in the same location ever since. Playing in the same stadium since 1882, and over 134 years ago, gives Burnley FC a great sense of history, and gives players the knowledge that their predecessors have successfully played games in the same homeground as them. |

Winning the FA Cup once (in 1994), and making it to the quarterfinals of the European Cup, the team nicknamed "The Clarets" have established themselves as a smaller yet powerful team. Both the First and Second World Wars drastically affected the team, but they have managed to remain strong before and after both. Burnley's Premier League career began after their 2009 promotion, with a win against Manchester United, who were the reigning champions at the time. Sadly, the team did not maintain their winning streak, and were relegated shortly after. |
