| Alexis Alejandro Sánchez is a professional Chilean footballer who plays as a forward for both the Chilean national team, and the famed English club Arsenal F.C. Sanchez kicked off his career playing for Cobreloa, a Chilean team in the second-tier league, before being signed by the Italian team Udinese Calcio in 2006. As part of a maturation project run by Udinese, they loaned Sanchez to the Chilean team Colo-Colo in a season long deal, and then to the Argentine club River Plate, before bringing him to play for them in Serie A in 2008. Eventually, Sanchez made his way up to La Liga to play for Barcelona in 2010 with a £25 million transfer, the most expensive in Chilean football history at the time. In 2014 Sanchez signed with Arsenal in a £31.7 million transfer, and was given the number 17 jersey. |
