| Rome's football team is also known as "I Lupi" (the Wolves) which is its sign - it is the story of the founding of the city of Rome - the famous wolf from which the two babies, Romus and Romulus, were born. It was founded in 1927 and won its first Championship in 1941/1942. From its inception to the present, Roma played in Serie A - Italy's top football league, except in the 1950/51 season, when Roma went down to the sub-division. The Roma football team has had many victories over the years, including nine trophies in Italy (the Italian Cup), three Italian Championship wins, the Fair Cities Cup and more. Roma reached the Europa Cup final in 1984, but eventually lost to Liverpool and did not qualify for the semifinals. |
